Line Editing

Line editing follows any necessary story restructuring and major revisions provided in the developmental editing process. Throughout this critical line by line, sentence by sentence review, an editor deletes the unnecessary and modifies the confusing, reorganizes words or sentences for improved flow and clarity, restructures run-on sentences, and tightens up dialogue. Effective line editing ensures that the author’s message is precisely what is intended.

Mary Lib will dissect and analyze your work to ensure that structure and flow, sequencing, and word choice are ideal. Your voice or those of your characters will remain as developed, even as edits are made.

Richard Adams - Author, 11 Brown Lane: A Memoir

Mary Lib was a breath of fresh air as I began working my way through the process of writing my first book, 11 Brown Lane: A Memoir. She walked me through the process of rewriting certain passages and carefully handled all the details of editing the book. Working with Mary Lib was truly a collaborative process. She helped me become aware of my “voice” and employed its power as she edited.

For the first-time or veteran writer, I highly recommend Mary Lib for polishing your projects, books, and writings. Thank you, Mary Lib!
